Re: What type of qualification needed for IPS?
Graduates are eligible for becoming an IPS officer. You can choose any of the streams as per your interest. Candidates with any area of specialisation are eligible to apply. The age limit to apply is 30 years. Candidates below 21 years are not eligible to apply. If you satisfy these criteria you can start preparing for the civil service exam.

IPS Exam Eligibility For getting selected to the IPS, there are two types of eligibility. One is that you should be eligible for appearing for the IPS exam and the other is that after clearing the mains and while appearing for the physical tests during the interview stage you should meet all the physical and other requirements as mandated. Let's discuss these in detail. There are no special requirements for appearing for the IPS exam as it is part of the Civil Services examination. So if you fulfill the criteria for civil services exams you, by default, qualify for IPS exams as well. To be eligible for the civil services exams: You must be at least 21 years of age at the time of filling the Civil Services (Preliminary) Exam form and not more than 30 years of age (various relaxations are available for different categories). You must possess a graduate degree in any discipline of any of the Universities incorporated by an Act of Central or State legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University under Section 3 of the UGC Act 1956, or possess an equivalent qualification. Candidates who are in the final semester or have taken their final degree exam but are awaiting the results can also appear for the IAS and IPS Preliminary examination provided they furnish their proof of degree while filling the Mains form. THANKS. |

The complete selection procedure for this is by -Civil Services Aptitude Test -Civil Services Main Examination -Interview Here is the required eligibility criteria for the candidate to take this exam. Academic Qualification : -One should have completed Graduation with any of the stream from a recognized university. -Candidates who have appeared for final year exams of Graduation course and waiting for the result can also apply for this Exam. Age criteria : -One should be in the age group of 21-30 years to be eligible for this Exam. -Relaxation is there in upper age limit upto 3 years for the candidates of OBC category and upto 5 years for the candidates of SC/ST category. You should have to choose 2 optional subjects for civil services main exam. I suggest you to go through the list of optional subjects and then choose the subjects which you are interested and opt for the graduation with the stream where these subjects are available. Start preparation for this Exam from the very beginning of your Graduation course. Have good preparation for this Exam and crack it.
