M.Tech is a technical masters education that takes the students into detailed studies about the streams they chose. It is important to do a masters these days as education is something that always pays off. Masters of Technology which is the full form of M.Tech is generally a two year program which can be done by anybody who has a technical background in his/her graduation.

Since M.Tech is a technical education it is majorly preferred and taken up by B.Tech graduates to add more value to their academics.

If you are planning to take up M.Tech and that too in Part time, you must consider the following points:

1. There are already many people out there who are doing such courses from full time colleges such as IITs and NITs. It is also evident that they would be preferred over the people who are doing the same from some part time category.

2. When you are willing to study further, it is always a better idea to sit for GATE - Graduate Aptitude Test of Engineering, crack it nicely and get into some IIT, NIT, BITS Pilani etc for M.Tech education.

3. Keeping in mind the duration of the course, it is only 2 years. Thus, investing 2 more years for better academic career is always a wise option. The money required for M.Tech is also not very much. It is reasonable and lies between 3 -8 lacs depending on which college you opt to take.

Finally, speaking of the value of part time M.Tech from ANY place/university, it is always going to be lower than anybody who is doing a full time course. However, if you are already working in a core company and need a degree just to increase your academic profile on paper then going forward with one such distance learning program is not a very bad idea.
Do you have any question? or have anything to say?
