ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR IAS EXAM

This exam is conducted by UPSC in once time in year.

Those candidate are graduate from any recognized university with any discipline are eligible for IAS exam.

But your age should be in between 22 to 30 years old.Age relaxation is provide for SC/ST/OBC category as per govt rule.

The maximum attempts for SC/ST candidate is Unlimited. For OBC candidate it is 7 years and for general candidate it will be 5 years.

Also you must be in citizen in India.

Optional subjects for IAS main exam:

Economics , Electrical Engineering,Geography, Geology ,History, Law,Management,Mathematics, Mechanical Engineering, Medical Science, Philosophy, Physics, Political Science and International Relations, Psychology, Public Administration, Sociology,Statistics, Zoology, Agriculture, Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science, Anthropology,Botany, Chemistry, Civil Engineering, Commerce and Accountancy.

You can choose the subject in sense of your strength .

The IAS selection process is consist in three way

1)Preliminary exam
2)Main exam
3)Inter View.

Date of notification: 04-02-2012

Last Date for Receipt of Applications: 05-03-2012

Date of Exam: 20-05-2012

Application Forms For IAS Exam

In order to become an Indian Administrative Officer (IAS)..you need to clear the Civil Services Exam which is conducted every year by the UPSC..

For appearing in the Civil Service Exams..you need to fulfill the following minimum eligibility criteria

1) You should be a graduate in any stream from a recognized University..

2) You should be within the age limit of 21-30 years for general category,21-33 years for OBC and 21-35 years for SC/ST

The maximum number of attempts that a general candidate gets to clear this exam is 4,for OBC its 7 and for SC/ST there is no limit..

The forms for the Preliminary Exam shall be released on 4th February,2012 and the last date for form submission is 5th March,2012

the Preliminary exam shall be conducted on 20th May,2012 and if you clear the Prelims then you shall qualify for the Mains which will be conducted on 5th October,2012..

If you clear the Mains then you will be called for the final interview and the results shall be declared 2 weeks before the next Preliminary exams..

Important dates for IAS-2012 exam:
Indian Administration Service(Preliminary exam) Notification for this year: Issue of application form from 4th Feb 2012 to 5th March 2012.
Exam will held on 20th May 2012.
Indian Administration Service (Main Exam) notification for this year:
Exam will held on 15th Oct 2012.

Well to become an IAS officer you have to apply for the civil service examination which is conducted by the UPSC.The examination is conducted once a year and any graduates students can apply for the exam if you satisfy the other eligibility criteria for the exam.The examination is done in two phases ::

1.Preliminary
2.Main examination :: It consists of written examination and the Interview .

1.Preliminary exam::It consist of two papers and both are of objective types and common for all students .



2.Main exam:: Only those students who have cleared the preliminary exam will be eligible for the main exam.There are total 9 papers and students have to choose two optional subjects .After clearing the main exam you will get call for the interview.



Eligibility ::

You must have passed your graduation in any streams from recognized college
You should be between 21 to 30 years .There is some relaxation given to reserved caste students .The 5 years in upper age limit is extended for the SC/ST and for OBC i is extended to 3 years .

Relaxation is given in the no of attempts too to the reserved caste students.
No of times the general students can apply for the exam is 4 ,SC/ST unlimited times and OBC 7 times .

Indian Administration Service exam is part of Civil Service exam.If you get good rank in Civil Service exam,then you can become as IAS Officer.
