The IPS Exam, usually known as Civil Service Examination has already been conducted on 20-05-2012. The notification for the Civil Service Examination to be conducted in the year 2013 is yet to be published and as soon as it does, it will be made available on the official website of Union Public Service Commission as well as in India's leading newspapers including Employment News.

As far as the examination fee is concerned, candidates belonging to General Category and OBC category needs to pay Rs.50, whereas candidates belonging to SC/ST category as well as women candidates are exempted from the payment of examination fee.

IPS stands for Indian Police Services. To become IPS Officer, you have to apply for the UPSC Civil services examination (CSE). This examination is conducted by UPSC Every year in 2 stages, Preliminary and Mains. But you have to cracked the preliminary examination first, only then you are eligible to appeared for Main examination.

For this year CSE Preliminary examination was already completed on 20/May/2012.

If you have missed the chance to apply for this examination this time, then please wait for next year Recruitment Notification. The Notification of this examination will be Published in the month of February every year and eligible candidates may fill the application form online only. No offline application form facility is available for any candidates.

To apply for this examination, you have to complete your Graduate degree course in any discipline from a recognized university. Final year appearing candidates are also eligible to apply for this examination. To apply for this examination your age should between 21 to 30 years, upper age relaxation is applicable for SC/ST/OBC candidates.

You have to pay the fees through challan form in SBI Bank OR Pay the fees through SBI Net Banking/Debit card.

The IPS exam consists of two parts
1) the Preliminary Exam
2) The Main exam

The preliminary exam which is objective type qualifying exam is held in MAy-June usually in the first week of May
And the Main exam which consist of a written paper and interview is held in October- November usually second week of October

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) conducts Civil services examination (CSE) for the selection of IPS officers

This year the date of notification of the preliminary examination was 4 february 2012
The last date for the submission of form for the preliminary examination was 5 March 2012
the preliminary exam was held on 20 may 2012 and the Civil Services (Main) exam will start from 5 october 2012. The duration of the main exam will be 21 days.
