For IAS, one has to crack civil services examination being conducted by UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) every year.
The complete selection procedure to become IAS Officer is by -CSAT Exam (Civil Services Aptitude Test) -Civil Services Main Examination -Interview Here is the eligibility criteria that a candidates should possess to be eligible for CSAT Exam. Academic Qualification : -One should have completed Graduation with any of the stream from a recognized university. There is no percentage of marks required for the candidate to be eligible for this exam. -Candidates who are pursuing final year of Graduation can also take the exam but they should be able to show the proof of passing in Graduation when they appear for the Interview. Age criteria : -One should be in the age group of 21-30 years to be eligible for this Exam. -Relaxation is there in upper age limit upto 3 years for the candidates of OBC category. -For the candidates of SC/ST category, relaxation is there in upper age limit upto 5 years. -Relaxation in upper age limit upto 10 years for the candidates who are physically handicapped. You did not mention the highest level of academic qualification that you have finished. If you fulfill the above mentioned eligibility criteria and if you are interested to appear for this exam, you can attempt for the upcoming CSAT Exam which is going to be conducted on 20-05-2012. IAS can be defined as a post for administration. To become an IAS officer you must appear and clear the exam conducted by UPSC twice a year. The important notifications for 2012 UPSC exams are as follows.

IAS exam is an civil service exam, which is conducted by UPSC every year.. The date of commencement of IAS preliminary exam is 20 May 2012.. The last date of receipt for application form is 5 march 2012.. If you able to clear the preliminary exam then you will be able to go for main exam.. The date of main exam is 5th October 2012.. So, get prepare for the preliminary exam.. All the best.. |

CSAT exam for IAS has already been conducted by UPSC in May. The next CSAT is expected on 3rd or 4th May of 2013. Notifications will be made in major newspaper and The employment news in mid January. Exam Pattern and syllabus - There are two papers - Paper I - (200 marks) Duration: Two hours - 2 Marks each with negative mark of .33% • Current events of national and international importance • History of India and Indian National Movement • Indian and World Geography - Physical, Social, Economic geography of India and the World. • Indian Polity and Governance – Constitution, Political System, Panchayati Raj, Public Policy, Rights Issues, etc. • Economic and Social Development – Sustainable Development, Poverty, Inclusion, Demographics, Social Sector Initiatives, etc. • General issues on Environmental ecology, Bio-diversity and Climate Change - that do not require subject specialization • General Science. Paper II - (200 marks) Duration: Two hours - 2.5 Marks each with negative mark of .33% • Comprehension • Interpersonal skills including communication skills • Logical reasoning and analytical ability • Decision making and problem solving • General mental ability • Basic numeracy (numbers and their relations, orders of magnitude etc.) (Class X level), Data interpretation (charts, graphs, tables, data sufficiency etc. - Class X level) • English Language Comprehension skills (Class X level). IAS(Indian Administrative Service) exam is conducted by the UPSC(Union Public Service Commission) once in a year. Important dates for all UPSC exams:- ::::::Eligibility criteria:::::: Candidate should be complete graduation from a recognised university. Candidate must be a citizen of india. Final year graduation candidates also eligible. Percentage is not required for this exam. ::::::Age criteria:::::: The age limits are 21 years to 30years, 3 years age relaxation for OBC candidates, 5 years age relaxation for SC/ST candidates.
