To join in Indian Police Service, you need to apply for the civil service exam which is conducted by UPSC and is held every year. The civil service selects candidates through:

1. Preliminary Exam
2. Main Exam
3. Interview

There are eligibility criteria which are needed to be satisfied in order to apply for the exam and they include:

• Nationality
• Age limit
• Educational qualification

# The nationality standard states candidate should have citizenship in India

# Age limit needed is 21-30 years for general category and there are relaxation for other categories.

# For SC/ST it is 21-35 years and for OBC it is 21-33 years

# Educational qualification needed is degree from a recognized university and that can be done in any stream in order to satisfy the educational qualification.

# For the IPS exam, candidate need to be physically fit.
