Yes, Nutrition is a major subject in IGNOU. After completion bachelor degree in nutrition, you can't apply in UGC NET exam.

NET stands for National Eligibility Test which is conducted in a year by UGC.

The educational qualification required for NET Exam is masters degree from a recognized university with above 55% marks. 5% relaxation is given for SC/ST category candidates. Final year student are also eligible for NET Exam.

There is no age criteria for NET Exam but for JRF your age should be below 28 years.

Pattern for UGC NET Exam :-

Section 1 - 100 marks(60 questions are there)
Section 2 - 100 marks(50 questions are there)
Section 3 - 150 marks(75 questions are there)

For online application of UGC NET exam click on the official link http://www.ugc.ac.in or http://ugcnetonline.in/

First of all you must have a Master's Degree in Nutrition with 55% marks from a recognized University to become eligible for NET. Bachelor's Degree candidates who have specialization in Engineering and Pharmacy with 60% marks also can apply for NET.

Hence, you have to complete Master's degree in your discipline to become eligible for NET. IGNOU is a recognized distance education university and you will be definitely eligible for NET. Hence, don't worry and take admission in Master's and start preparing for the NET.

There is relaxation in marks for SC/ST, OBC and Physically handicapped candidates. If you belong to these categories, then surely you will get relaxation.

There is no age limit for NET, if you are applying for lecturership. For JRF there is age limit of 28 years for General category. Age relaxation can be availed by reserved category candidates.
Do you have any question? or have anything to say?
