I have completed MSW from Karnataka State Open University with first division. Is it necessary for me to do M.Phil before going for the PhD program? Can I do PhD from distance mode? If yes ,which are the universities which offer this course?

Since you have completed Masters degree course, you can pursue Ph.D course through distance mode in the same, there is no problem in it.
Candidates those who have completed their Masters degree from a recognized University with a minimum of 55% of marks in it are eligible to opt for the Ph.D course through distance mode.

It is not mandatory to do M.Phil before PhD in Social Work program after completion of MSW. Candidates after completion of the MSW with at least 55% marks from a recognized university are eligible to apply for a PhD in Social Work. Candidates are admitted to the PhD program on the basis of their performance in the entrance examination and interview conducted by the university. Those candidates who have qualified NET/SET/GATE/M.Phil shall be exempted from the entrance examination. Some of the universities/colleges offering PhD in Social Work are given below;

Since you already have done masters degree (Master of Social Work) from Karnatka State Open University, you can go for PhD directly.There is no need to do M.Phil if a candidate already have a masters degree, there is no need of double master degree for pursuing PhD program.
