CSIR NET is held twice in a year, in the month of June and December. The notification comes usually 2-3 months before the scheduled examination.

The notification for CSIR NET December exam is already out and application period has ended in the month of August. So, you have to wait for next year UGC NET.

Being a Mechanical Engineering candidate, you have to apply for Engineering Sciences subject. The notification for every subject comes at the same time. CSIR NET is conducted for following subjects.

1. Life Sciences
2. Physical Sciences
3. Engineering Sciences
4. Earth Sciences
5. Chemical Sciences

So, apply for Engineering Sciences and you should start preparing for CSIR NET as soon as possible. Also, make sure you score at least 60% marks in your Engineering Graduation.
