IT covers Technical as well as General Awareness and their selection procedure is more tough than GATE. And the major difference is After cracking GATE one can eligible for M.Tech or M.S,spent two years than eligible for job. But Cracking IES means one can eligible from the very first day in job with lucrative salary and so many facilities . Thanks |

Hi,
Both GATE and IES exams are very tough exams. GATE exams are conducted by IIT for pursuing M.Tech and IES is conducted by UPSC. The seat is very less for IES and its more competitive when compared to GATE. Though GATE have vast syllabus, IES is more tougher because very few students can crack IES and the competition is so high. Thank you. |

I think IES is more tough than GATE because one can crack GATE by cramming the things and enter the institutes but in IES there is no such chance of selection because after written exam there is still interview.

Obviously IES is tougher than GATE EXAM.........
There are several reason for that........... 1.The no. of seats in gate is much much more than that of IES.... 2.Syllabus is huge for IES exam.... 3.Gate is only MCQ type and its a 100 marks exam....... Whereas IES is a 1400 marks exam And MCQ, Written type, Interview is present there.. |

for GATE you need to be good in only one field or particular stream
but in case of IES you should be aware of many streams specially in history and general knowledge and also competition is higher in case of IES so it is not an easy job . |

IES is tougher than GATE
because for cracking gate you need to be good only in your particular subject but for IES you should be good in all subjects. even the seats in IES is lesser then GATE |

i think both exams are different as calculated on different stages of knowledge
for IES(indian economic service) one has to be aware about general studies, indian economy, and should have a sound personality to clear the personality test interview in a perfect way so this require more effort on the other hand if we talk about GATE it only requires proficiency in the same field in which you are graduate. so i think IES is not a cake walk. |

according to me IES is difficult because in IESyou have to prepare for both technical based and general awareness. but in gate exam you need to prepare in technical based only.

According to me all the exams are easier if we have clearly know the concepts. If you are intrested to serve an organization you may chose IES. If you need deep knowledge in an particular area and to do research, GATE can be chosed.

Hi,
in my view IES is tougher than gate ,as for Gate it is subject oriented if we know the subject perfectly and by hard working we can clear it.But in case of I E S it requires vast general knowledge and we should have upto date awareness and as it is also a technical field IES is tougher than Gate. |

i feel that IES though because IES include so much of syllabus and require so much of talent.
but in GATE it is so much of percent is core syllabus.so GATE is easy. if you follow below lines you make in yours life every thing is easy. Every thing is easy, when you are busy. but nothing is easy , when you are lazy |

It depends on which exam you want to take,if you want for higher studies go for GATE and prepare well.
Otherwise go for IES and get job in government sector. Both can be prepared easily with systematic focus. All the best... |

In term of entrance exam, IES is much tougher in comparison with GATE. IES written test has two stages followed by GD and PI. whereas GATE exam has just one written test followed by direct entry in colleges or sometime PI.

I think IES is tougher than GATE not because of the number of sits available in IES, look basically these two exam are of different category , so comparison will not be a good option but as it is the topic, so, I said that. GATE has lot of sit while IES don't.I think this is the only reason why IES is tougher.

I think GATE exam is tougher then the IES exam because in m.tech all the b.tech courses (approximate 8 subjects) are included, and the question are very tougher so this is very tough.
IES is also tough but i think GATE i more harder then the IES |

i think indian engineering services is much tough than the gate exam.
because the procedure of the ies exam is tough means consist of the different equivalent steps which are are not so easy to crack. comparatively ies is tough than the gate exam. |

hello,
i think IES is most tough than gate , because IES is the one of the hardest exams for Engineers , in gate we can easily achieved the cut off marks, but in IES ,getting selected is tough. good luck. |
