The 1st year M.Sc in Botany papers covers the topics algae, bryophytes, pteridophytes and gymnosperms. The paper consists of hundred marks. The whole examination paper is divided into two sections Section A and Section B. Section A carries 40 marks. It has eight questions and one has to attempt 5 questions from the eight and each carries eight marks. This is usually brief note question. Some of the topics are Spagnum, Psilotum, Apogamy, Akinetes and Bennetititales. Section B carries 60 marks with four questions and each carries 15 marks. These are all long answer type questions with questions like classification of the main types like living Gymnosperms, uses of gymnosperms, development of stele in pteridophytes, importance of algae. There are also questions covering the life cycle and reproduction of the bryophytes and phaeophyta. Each question has two questions and it offers you a choice to answer one question of the two.
