In the associateship examination- fire and consequential loss insurance paper, there are ten questions. Students have to answer eight questions from a total of ten. The tenth question carries 16 marks, but all the remaining questions are of 12 marks each. Though the last question is of 16 marks, it is not compulsory. The exam carries 100 marks and is of 3 hours time duration. The questions are all subjective type. There are some questions based on short notes. Four short notes are given out of which three are to be answered. Each short note thus carries 4 marks. Understanding based questions are also asked. Here also, choices are given. Some questions have two sub questions, each carrying 6 marks. Again, some questions are there which are essay type ones. Here a single question carries 12 marks. The last question is usually a numerical problem, and carries 16 marks as stated above.
