GATE examination is an all India level entrance examination for entry into M.Tech programmes in various IITs, NITs, Jadavpur University and other institutes. The exam also has a Mathematics paper. The paper carries three sections and a total eighty-fifty question. The first section has a total of twenty questions and each carries a maximum of one marks. The second section has a total of fifty-five questions and each carries a maximum of two marks. The third section has a total of ten questions and each carries a maximum of two marks. Negative marking is also there in the exam, with a maximum of one-fourth marks deducted for each of the questions answered incorrectly. All of the questions asked in the exam are Objective types and offers a maximum of four options, out of which the candidates have to choose any one.
