It includes a brief introduction to aircraft engineering, aerodynamics, aircraft structure, propulsion, avionics, fundamentals of aerodynamics (airfoil nomenclature, flight forces, flight stability, aircraft loading), elementary aerodynamics, aircraft parts and their functions, types of construction, landing gears, propulsion systems and techniques (IC engines and jets), air traffic management and avionics, direction finding, radio telephony, NDB, BOR, DME,ILS,MLS, RADAR, inertial and Doppler navigation.

Paper Pattern: Candidate will be provided with 10 questions with alternate choice and 5 have to be chosen and answered out of them. Each question carries 14 marks and all are of subjective type. The questions may be subdivided and the distribution of marks will be sorted accordingly.

Time allotted and Maximum Marks: Exam duration is 2 hours and 30 minutes and in this time frame candidate are required to solve a paper worth 70 marks.

Key Points: Some answers should be represented by neat diagrams. Problems are sometimes included and one problem can be expected. Air craft materials, engines, structure, traffic management are key words on which extra attention is required.
