There are no choices in this paper and all the questions are compulsory. Each broad question carries 20 marks. The first question is a reference to the context question where the student has to analyze two Sanskrit shlokas taking one from each sub section. All the questions have internal choices. Some important questions are what are the changes made by the poet in his drama as adapted from the source and how these changes affect plot construction, describe the social conditions of the time as reflected in the drama Mrichhakatika, define the qualities of the hero in Sanskrit drama and also discuss the varieties and sub-varieties of the Nayak, narrate the story of Sakuntala in brief, discuss the ten varieties of Sanskrit drama with appropriate examples, character sketches of Vasantsena, Charudatta and important characters from Sanskrit dramas. Linguistic elements in Sanskrit dramas such as sandhi and rupaka with examples and detailed discussion are also tested.
