PTU, in Jalandhar, has been educating students in the engineering subjects since 1997. It is one of the most successful universities that have shown a remarkable achievement in the educational front. The MCA course newly instituted under its wing presents the System Analysis and Design course. It is exclusively associated with information systems and their life cycles. The aim of the subject is to provide systematic definition of the system, explicate the system components and finally analyse and design the whole system. The designing is the ultimate goal of the discourse provided using which information systems can be built. There are stages involved in the study which eventually leads to the final product and in order to establish the stages, certain modelling techniques are taught which focus on specific aspects of data processing. Students are schooled about the feasibility of the systems too so that they have an idea of the fiscal, technological and ethical fallout.
