Correct age for school admission of kids into school?

The foundational stage, as defined by the new National Education Policy (NEP), consists of five years of learning opportunities for all children (between 3 to 8 years), including three years of preschool education followed by Class 1 and 2.

Pre-Primary education in India generally starts at the age of three years and goes on till the age of six years which comprises Kindergarten or Playschools. These schools have varying names for different levels and age criteria.

- Nursery : Three to Four years as on 31st March

- Kindergarten : Four to Five years as on 31st March

- Grade 1 : Five to Six years as on 31st March

Correct age for school admission of kids into school?

The Admission Age for these schools is – 2 to 2.5 years.

For Class I ( CBSE / Govt Schools ) – 5 Years
ICSE Class I – 6 Years.
