You are not eligible for Merchant Navy direct after completing your 10th class.

Candidates who want to join Merchant Navy should have completed at least their 12th with Physics and Maths from the recognized board exam.

You can take direct entry in merchant navy as a cadet once, you have completed your 10+2. If you want to join merchant navy as an officer then, you should have to pursue degree in nautical science or marine engineering.

Eligibility for Merchant Navy:

Candidates should have completed at least their 12th with PCM subjects (For direct entry as a cadet).

For officers post one should has to complete their bachelor degree in marine engineering or B.Sc in nautical science.

Only unmarried male candidates are eligible for merchant navy.

I would recommend that after completing your 12th, you should either go for marine engineering or B.Sc nautical science. And take entry in merchant navy as an officer. However, you can also join as a cadet. The choice is yours.
