what it takes to get a masters degree in physics from top universities in usa such as princeton, caltech, mit etc,and further phd i am presently dropped after 12th and im also preparing for cmi undergraduate entrance exam and nest that will be held in may this year.it would b great to get there but if i fail which apparently is most likely then i will take admission for bsc course in mumbai university on my 12th std marks which is 82%.i want some guiedlines on how should be my planning about the preparation in the short time i have now.and what else are the opportunities for me.and what i need to do to get a masters course in theoretical physics and (or) phd from some prominent institute in usa.and what extra efforts i can take during my undergraduate years to enhance my knowledge of physics ,to get scholerships any if possible and to make a good carrier in research?thanking in the anticipation of favourable reply.
