Lohit is an administrative district in the Indian state of Arunachal Pradesh and the district has the city of Tezu as its headquarters. According to a survey conducted in the year 2011, it is the third most populous district in the state of Arunachal Pradesh out of the 16 other districts functioning under the control of the state after the districts of Papum Pare and Changlang. On the North side of the district there are the Dibang Valley District of the state of Arunachal Pradesh and the country of China. Indira Gandhi Government College is the third largest college in the state of Arunachal Pradesh and the college came into existence to mark the occasion of the birthday of the father of the nation on the 2nd of October 1986. The college meets the educational requirements of the six districts of the state of Arunachal Pradesh. The college is affiliated to the Rajiv Gandhi University, which is a central university operating from Arunachal Pradesh and it is also recognized by the UGC.
