Hare or Tortoise- Keep Yourself Focused and Motivated
Today people on the earth are so busy, time and money have become the most valuable commodity in the human life. The deadline between March to July, the season of examination, results and the admission period, is most crucial in the students as well as in the parent’s life. When we go through the newspaper, along with the scams, political changes and government policies, we can see some more additional headings these months. It usually says what is next? How to crack the exam, tips and some career guidance and course related Q&A.
It is a worth to explore why such heated discussions happen only at the beginning of every academic year. Though we all know that things are moving so fast around us, the younger generation still wait till the last minute to explore the options and choose a course. In the exam time or in the admission time the stress, tensions and anxiety are over the head. After a long discussion and with the help of the expert every near and dears, they finally takes a decision and go with it. This is happening to most of our youths, but unfortunately the problem doesn’t end here.
Everything seems to be good at the beginning and seems to fade away after some time. This is true for the students who get admission into a new course or in a new place. It is proven fact that majority of the students who pass-out from the technical and non-technical programs have number of back-papers and it will take additional years to complete a particular course. Why the decision taken with so many effort and time doesn’t show the expected color in the aspirant’s life? Where are those future plans and career prospects?
Commonly we can state a number of reasons for this trend but when we observe it clearly we can see that there is a lack of self motivation and the absence of future objective. The self motivation and goal setting theories are not only for the professionals but also for the students so as to keep them in the right track. There are some famous stories which will help you keep yourself on the right track.
What is Tortoise and Hare story?
Today’s in the busy schedule we don’t have any time to spend time for the old fables. But thanks to the animated CDs and the kid’s story publishing houses. These make us to connect with the Aesop and Grand mother stories. Everybody knows about the Tortoise and Hare story, which is the one of the masterpieces from the story table. The story concludes with the morale that “slow and steady wins the race”.
This story will help you to understand the basic needed quality of being a student, patience and focus. The tortoise experience shows you that if the challenges are seeing to be impossible but if you try for that, you can achieve the greatest goal in your life. The experience of the hare indicates those who are distracted from the focus. Even if the target is very easy to achieve, once you loose the concentration you can never reach out the set goals.
The New Version of the story
There is a new track in the story that is developed by the modern education expert so as to help thosestudents who seeks a second chance. The hare again challenged the Tortoises and this time he made no mistakes in finishing first. It is because he understands where he went wrong and he has a deep aspiration to correct the mistake. He doesn’t waste any time for taking a nap or for resting a while. He kept focus on the race until he achieved his goal. The tortoise loses the game but he also improves his time taken for finishing the game.
As students you may also have an opportunity to come back to the study track and can have a successful future path.
The Two Groups
In the student’s category there are students who are like Hare and some are like Tortoise. The Hares are those who have all the facilities and support to have a good academic as well as career path. But these people are generally taking things lightly and do the same mistakes as our hare in the story. They lose the self motivation and also never interested to focus on the future goals. It is not that you shouldnt have any fun in life, but you have to keep a balance between fun and academics/career.
The tortoise groups are those who have lot of limitation, may be on financial side or other. These people are focused but since they didn’t have any other supports it will take some time to be successful. So you should be patient. Here you have to fight with yourself, not with the hare. Each time you have to improve yourself. You should have an attitude to take the challenges and try to achieve the goals.
The story and the modification are recognized as one of the top most inspirational story for the students. The story is an excellent example for to describe the importance of focusing on the goal and keep you motivated. It also says the importance of taking the challenges and correcting the mistakes. The life is a race and the competitions among you are so high that everybody is running towards the same goal. As a student you have to understand the importance of having a goal and keeping yourself motivated to obtain those. If you can make yourself in the track you will always enthusiastic in your work and will be able to manage the challenges. If you have a firm goal and you are a self motivated person, no matter whether you are a hare or tortoise, you won’t have any back papers…
