Indian Law Institute Common Admission Test is carried out by Indian Law Institute, New Delhi. It is one of the oldest and pioneer institute in the field of law studies and s holding the status of a deemed university. The university offers different programs in the post graduate and research filed. The eligible candidates of the common admission test will get admission into the institute for the two year post graduate program in law, Master of Law, LLM. The alumni of these institutes are serving in the highest position in the Supreme Court or High court or in the top most position in the law profession.

Structure and Syllabus for ILI CAT LLM

The examination will follow the objective and subjective pattern. The entrance test is divided into three parts,

Part I: It is an objective paper carrying 30 questions with 30 marks. The question will cover the areas of

• English Language
• General Awareness

Part II: The question paper carries 60 marks with 60 questions and the topics covered under this part is,

• Public International Law
• Partnership and Sale of Goods Act
• Law of Torts
• Law of Limitation
• Jurisprudence
• IPC
• Family Laws
• Commercial Law

Part III: It is a subjective paper was the candidates need to answer the questions with minimum 150 words and the paper carries a total of 40 marks. The areas of the question paper will be,

• Constitutional Law
• Contract, Partnership and Sale of Goods Act
• Family Law
• IPC
• Jurisprudence

The candidates need to pass each area so as to qualify in the examination and the eligible candidates of ILI CAT have a viva round to clear for the admission purpose.

Eligibility Criteria

A candidate having 50% marks in the LLB examination recognized by the Bar council of India can apply for the examination. The candidates having a Law degree from the foreign university is also eligible to appear for the examination. The final year student of the LLB program can also take the examination. They have to submit their mark sheet and original certificate only at the time of the admission.

How to Apply?

The candidates can get the forms through different modes. They can purchase the form from the ILI campus, at the admission office. By sending a request with the DD of the application form to the ILI admission office is another way for getting the form through post. The candidates can download the form from the website www.ilidelhi.org. The applicant must pay Rs. 750/- for the form.

How to fill the Form?

The candidates need to fill the form with needed attention. The instruction for filing the form is available in the prospectus and the students should carefully read the information given there. They have to follow the instructions as suggested in the brochure. They can fill the form using a ball point pen and fill the form with there own hand writing. Given information should be correct and in capital letters. Any mistakes in the application form cause rejecting your request for examination. Do not overwrite or manipulate any data in the form. The candidates must affix there attested photo in the application form and put signature on the specific column. Send the filled form with the necessary document to the address given for submission.

• Date of CAT: third week of June, 2012
• Announcement of Results: end of the month of June, 2012

Study Plan

ILI is one of the prominent academic bodies for the law aspirants and hence the competition at the entry level is high. Only candidates who prepared in a systematic manner can stand to the benchmarks in the examination.  You have to make your own time schedule for preparation and follow it without any fail. You have to read again your text boos of graduation and go through the clauses and laws. The reference books for the LLM entrance examination from different publishing houses and expert personals will also be helpful in the preparation phase. You can also join a training center where you can prepare with the previous year paper and model question papers. Take the exam with a good back ground of practice and with the right attitude.

How and Where To Get the Results?

The result of the common entrance test of ILI is available in the official website of the university. The student eligible for the viva round will get the conformation through their personal mail ID. The list of the eligible candidates will also display in the ILI camps.

Score Validity

The score is applicable for the period of one year and it is used for filling the available seats in the ILI.
