Baba Farid University of Health Sciences was formed in the year 1998 in remembrance of Mr. Baba Farid, who was a Punjabi Sufi lived on 12th Century and it was formed under the Punjab State Legislature.

The mission of the university is to create an academic, intellectual and physical environment helpful for free flow and exchange of ideas and information between different faculties of the university and also between different universities of health sciences in India and abroad as well thereby opening window to educators, social scientists, biomedical scientists, health managers, health planners and health professionals. The university is offering health education under six different faculties namely homeopathy, physiotherapy, ayruveda, nursing sciences, dental sciences and medical sciences. Baba Farid University is approved by ACU, University Grants Commission and AIU. The university is located at an urban campus in the city of Faridcot at the state of Punjab. In addition to offering quality education in the field of medicine, the university also offers a wide range of employment opportunities to the local people thereby developing their standard of living. Recently, the university has called in application from dark room assistants, dental technicians, radiographer, laboratory attendants and assistants, laboratory technicians and staff nurses.

Admission to different medical courses is made by the university through common entrance test called PMET. Apart from different faculties of medical education, different board of studies for physiotherapy, homeopathy, nursing sciences, ayurveda, dental sciences and medical sciences are functioning under the university.
