Ophthalmology is mainly concerned with the study on the anatomy of eye and its diseases. It is a separate subdivision of medicine that deals with the eyes. To become an Ophthalmologist, the candidates should successfully complete the Ophthalmology course.  Ophthalmologist or eye specialists conduct studies on human eyes and reach at conclusions on the diseases that can occur in an eye. He prescribes medications or does surgeries for individuals who have eye problems. It is a three to five year course. Candidates who complete the programme from a Certified University or institution can expect hikes in their career.

Qualifying Exam

The eligibility required to do the Ophthalmology course is a graduation in medicine. The aspirants who have completed the medical school are qualified to apply for the programme. The courses offered in the Ophthalmology are MD, MS and DOMS. On completion of the programme with good percentage, they need to do their internship. Further, they can step on to their career as renowned Ophthalmologists.

Who is eligible to apply?

The candidates who have passed the 10+2 examinations from Science stream are eligible to apply for the MBBS programme. In order to apply for MBBS, the candidates should also appear any of the entrance exams like AIEEE, JIPMER, etc for admission.

How to prepare for exam and interview?

The candidates who have detailed knowledge in the Science (Physics, Chemistry and Biology) subjects can easily clear the test. Ophthalmologists are doctors who rectify the disorders of the eye. After analyzing the patients, they give medicines, glasses or operations. The physicians who complete the programme can hunt for career in public or private medical institutions or hospitals. Those who are well versed in the field can even start clinics within their home. The ophthalmologists get excellent scale of pay in India and abroad. With experience in the sector, they can earn much high salaries beyond their imagination.
