Banaras Hindu University (BHU) conducts Postgraduate Entrance Test (PET) every year for the admittance of eligible ones to its various masters programme. Admissions to these courses will be on the basis of merit in the PET. M.A. in Mass Communication in BHU is a 2 year course for the admittance to which the candidates have to clear the entrance exam conducted by the university.

The Tamil University came into existence for offering higher research in the ancient language of Tamil and for advanced study in allied branches like manuscriptology, drama, music, lexicography, translation and linguistics. The university introduced Ph. D and M. Phil programmes in the year 1992 for disciplines like sculpture, translation, literature and language. The university has six departments for offering education in the field of science namely architecture, ancient sciences, siddha medicine, environment and herbal science, computer science and earth sciences. The university also has an Ocean and Atmospheric Science and Technology Cell working as an autonomous body with support of the Ministry of Earth Science of the Indian Government.

Union Public Service Commission was intially founded as the Federal Public Service Commission. Federal Public Service Commission was actually established on October 1, 1926. The commission was established under the Government of India Act 1935. Later on, the formation of the Public Service Commissions at the Provincial level was also made as a provision under the Government of India Act 1935. Federal Public Service Commission was later changed into an autonomous entity named Union Public Service Commission.
