Pediatrician is a medical specialist, who offers care from birth to early adulthood and this profession is concerned with the health of newborn babies, children and teenagers. They specialize in the identification and curing of a number of ailments particular to young people and keeps track of the growth of their patients’ to adulthood. Not only private hospitals, but government hospitals also recruit candidates for the position of Pediatrician these days and they are offered with salary in the form of consolidated pay of around Rs.40000 per month.

Even though, the recently only one government organization called candidates for the position of Pediatrician, many government-run hospitals located in different state of India also call for applications from eligible candidates for the position of pediatrician on regular basis.
Educational and other qualification requirement:
To apply for the position of Pediatrician in Government Organizations, candidates must have completed their Diploma in Pediatrics or child health or degree in Pediatrics after completion of their MBBS course. In addition, government organizations require that candidates must have registered with state Medical Council of the state in which the applications are invited or with the Medical Council of India.
Selection Criteria:
In most of the cases since the number of candidates applying for the position of Pediatrician is lesser, interview is followed as the criteria for the selection of candidates for the position of Pediatrician.
Age requirement:
In the above-mentioned job notification, the Punjab National Rural Health Mission required that candidates should not be more than 65 years of age to apply for the position of Pediatrician.
Job responsibilities of a pediatrician:
Like other health care providers, pediatrician also work with many other people in the health care industry like nurses and other physicians in the hospital for assessing and treating children with different medical problems. Most of the work of pediatrician includes treatment of day-to-day illness that are common in children like infectious diseases, cold, cough, minor injuries and they will also have to do immunization works on children like a general practitioner treating adults. However, some of them specialize in treating more critical health problems in children like serious chronic ailments, autoimmune disorder and pediatric surgery.
Since pediatricians deal with small children, they should have patience to get the co-operation of the patient to offer the best possible treatment to get them out of their ailment.
