Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Institute of Technology shortly called as SVIT came into existence in the year 1997 and the institute was established with the ideals of Shri Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. The institute is approved by the Directorate of Technical Education of the Government of Gujarat, All India Council for Technical Education and it is affiliated to the Gujarat University. The institute is located in the banks of river Mahi at Vasad in a pollution free atmosphere about 20 kms from VV Nagar and Baroda. The institute is managed by the New English School Trust.

Admission Capacity of SVIT:

As far as UG courses are concerned, SVIT is approved with an intake capacity of 60 students per year for Aeronautical Engineering, instrumentation & control, electrical engineering and civil engineering, while for the other branches of UG course, admission capacity is 120 students per year. For the different branches of B. Arch course, the admission capacity of SVIT is 40 students per year. For MCA course, the admission capacity is 60 students per year, while for Master of Engineering courses, the admission capacity is 18 students per year per branch.

The institute offers the following facilities to its students:

In addition to regular facilities of staff rooms, conference hall, workshops, laboratories and classrooms, the institute offers other facilities like photocopiers, telephone booths, stationary store, bank counter and canteen

The institute has an independent library with a collection of more than 18000 books and the institute subscribes to nearly 154 periodicals and journals

The training and placement cell at the institute offers effective placement and career guidance to the outgoing students

Lectures are delivered by experts under the TECHSAT program, which is organized by the Gujarat Council of Science and Technology are received by satellite communication

The institute has a computer center with 1 mbps internet microwave and an intranet with the help of Windows NT and Linux as Operating System
