University of Pune is situated in north western part of Pune city. This University was established in 1948. The University offers many undergraduate and postgraduate courses. The university conducts entrance exam for Ph.D course in different streams.

Structure of University of Pune Ph.D Anthropology entrance Exam

The University of Pune Ph.D Anthropology entrance Exam consists of two papers. The candidates clearing the first paper are only eligible for the second paper. The Paper 1 will be a General Aptitude Test.  The Paper 1 will be of 100 marks out of which the candidate should obtain 50 marks to pass the test. The paper 2 is subject specified test. This test will be conducted by Department of Anthropology, University of Pune. This paper will consists of objective type questions for 20 marks and theoretical descriptive type questions for 80 marks.

There will be two papers for entrance exam. The 1st paper will be objective type questions. The total marks for this exam is 100. The candidate should obtain a minimum of 50% to pass this test. The candidates who clear this paper are only eligible for appearing the second paper.  The second paper will be subject specific test. This test will be conducted by the Department of Law, Pune University. The total marks of paper 2 will be 100. In this paper 20 questions will be objective type question on subjects in law. The paper 2 will consists of theoretical descriptive questions for 80 marks.

Eligibility Criteria

The following candidates can apply for Ph.D Anthropology in University of Pune

  • Candidates with Postgraduate degree in Anthropology with a minimum of 55% marks from a recognized University
  • Candidates working as Assistant Director (or above) in National laboratories or Institutes and are sponsored by the institutes.
  • Candidates with exceptional abilities and having 15 years of experience in Anthropology fields. Such candidates must have obtained a minimum of 50% marks for graduation.
  • Senior citizens of 60 years and above who have completed their graduation from recognized University.
  • Foreign candidates with a minimum of 50% or equivalent GPA.

How to apply?

The Ph.D Anthropology Entrance Exam is to be applied online. The first step for applying for Ph.D exam is to register and create a user name and password. The candidate will receive the user name and password in the registered email id. The next step is to click “online Application Form” link. The exam fee can be paid as direct cash or through demand draft. If the candidate opts for direct cash then they should deposit the exam fee to any HDFC bank or Bank of Maharashtra. If the candidate opts to pay as demand draft then they should take the same from any nationalized bank. The demand draft should be drawn in favor of Registrar, University of Pune”, payable at Pune. The final step after filling the form is to click the submit button.

How to fill the Form?

Read the instructions carefully before filling the form. The candidate should enter all the details of bank carefully if they are filling the fees through demand draft. Candidates directly paying cash should take the print out of the challan. They should deposit the money in bank through this challan. The stamped challan should be submitted along with the completed application form. A recent photograph should be affixed in the space provided. The applicant should provide the signature in the space provided. The candidate should click the submit button after checking all the details once again. The candidate should take the print out of the application form after they get the confirmation. It is necessary to provide the application form number, name and address of the candidate on the back side of the demand draft. The completed application form along with the stamped challan or demand draft should be sent to the Deputy Registrar, P. G. Admission Section, University of Pune, Pune - 411 007.
