The Indian Institute of Information Technology in Allahabad is a premier institute established in the year 1999 as a centre for studies in computer science and Information Technology. The Institute gained the status of a recognized university after a year of its establishment. The IIIT Allahabad is ranked fifteenth among the top institutes of technology in India. In Nasscom ranking the Institute ranked eleventh, thirteenth, fourteenth, and fourteenth since the consecutive years after 2006.

The institute is located in Jhalwa a place outlining Allahabad.  The campus has a total covered area of twenty five thousand square feet and offers all modern facilities for the students. It is the NSC complex with 5 labs, 8 comp labs, auditorium, library, a conference room, 5 lecture halls, office space and other facilities. However a fresh campus is constructed recently that covers an area of about a 100 acres.

The institute offers separate hostels for boys and girls, with both one person per room and 2 persons per room facility. The total numbers of hostels are 6, which include four boys’ hostels and two girls’ hostels. The computer labs their have a 24 hours power supply backup for the computers and the accommodation for the students.

The residential campus has 4 men’s hostels with a capacity of two hundred forty each with some air-conditioned rooms as well in the hostels.

The institute offers B. Tech. in Information Technology & Electronics and communication engineering. The institute offers MS in Information security & cyber law which is a 2 year Post-Gradate program for technological expertise in the fields. The institute also offers Master of Business administration in Information Technology which is 2 year management course. The institute offers M. Tech. in robotics, Human computer interaction, Bio informatics, intelligent systems, SE (software engineering) etc.

The institute also has several Doctoral programmes for the students like in the fields of disaster management, Industrial automation and networking etc.
