Kinesiology is the branch of science which involves the study of different issues related to the human movement. It studies the diverse principles of mechanics and structure of human movement. Kinesiology is also called human kinetics. Kinesiologists are the medical professionals who analyze various mechanical elements in movement of patients and treat the problems related with it. They deal with the whole musculoskeletal system and the several complicated ways in which it works. These professionals view the human body as an interconnected system. They also work with physical therapists and rehabilitation specialists in order to help the patients recover from any physical pain and surgery.

Qualifying Exam

To become a successful Kinesiologist, one should pursue at least a degree in MD and specialize in Kinesiology. The students who have finished their bachelor’s degree in medicine can join for the advanced degree and specialize in Kinesiology branch. After completing their Doctor of Medicine degree, they have to pursue training as Kinesiologist. In most of the countries, these graduates has to qualify a series of examinations in order to practice as a licensed Kinesiologist.

Who is eligible to apply?

Students who have successfully finished their senior secondary education from any reputed institution and have passed the concerned examination can apply for the bachelors’ degree in medicine. Various universities in this country offer the undergraduate degree in medicine. After pursuing this bachelor’s degree they can apply for the advance degree in Kinesiology, i.e. Doctor of Medicine in Kinesiology. They also have to undergo a residency training to become a Kinesiologist.

  • Pursue pass in 10+2 examinations or equivalent of any recognized boards with Biology, Physics and chemistry as major subjects.
  • Join any reputed university which offer bachelor’s degree in medicine and pursue the degree.

Kinesiologists need certain outstanding skills to perform well in their field. Since they have to interact with different types of patients and other medical professionals, they need good communication and interpersonal skills. They must have patience and must understand the problems of patients thoroughly and give treatments accordingly. They must have a strong fundamental in the concerned field in order to succeed in their career. Not many of the common man are aware of such a branch of medicine.
