Krishna Institute of Medical Science University came into existence in the year 1984 and the university is located in the district of Satara in Maharashtra. The university is offering education through the faculties like Krishna Institute of Medical Sciences, School of Dental Sciences, Krishna Institute of Dental Sciences, Krishna College of Physiotherapy and Department of Science.

The institute of medical sciences was declared as University under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act 2005. The medical sciences institute has been recognized not only by the Medical Council of India, but also by the Malaysian Medical Council. The medical council of India has approved the university with an intake capacity of 150 students per year for the MBBS course and MBBS course commences in the month of August every year.

The university has grown as an important center for medical education in the state of Maharashtra. Varied courses in levels like diploma, certificate, post graduate diploma, UG, PG and even Ph. Admission of students to the MBBS and BDS courses offered by the university is done based on the marks secured by the students in the Krishna All India Entrance Test and for seeking admission to the UG courses offered by the university candidates must have completed 17 years of age in the year in which he/she is seeking admission.
