Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya holds the pride of being the first educational institution to have scored 94.05%, which is the highest score awarded by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council, Bangalore and the college has also been identified as the college with potential for excellence by the University Grants Commission. The college is the oldest institution for women in Jalandhar and it is affiliated to the Guru Nanak Dev University located in Amritsar. The institute came into existence in the year 1927 at Lahore and was revived at Jalandhar in the year 1948 on the month of March.
