Samaldas Arts College is a oldest colleges in the western part of India and the college came into existence in the year 1885. Initially, the university earned affiliation from the Bombay University and presently it is offering Arts education with affiliation from the Bhavnagar University. The college began its functioning from a different campus and the foundation stone for the construction of the present campus of the college was laid by the first Prime Minster of the nation Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. The father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi graduated from this college and he studied in this college during the year 1888.
