Government Colleges for Ph. D in ENT
The full form of ENT is Ear, Nose and Throat and it is a branch of medicine and surgery also called as Otolaryngology, which specializes in the identification and treatment of disorders in neck, head and particularly in ear, nose and throat. Otolaryngology is expanded as Otorhinolaryngology and the term was derived from an ancient Greek term, which literally means study of ear and throat.
Even people refer the surgical specialty of ENT as head and neck surgery and medical professionals in this branch are called as Otorhinolaryngologists or Otolaryngologists – head and neck surgeons. Ph. D in ENT is a course meant for medical or surgical specialists in the field of ENT and the course helps in expanding the knowledge area of these professionals. This course is offered only by a single autonomous institution in India whose name is:
• All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi
About All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi:

Ph. D in ENT:
As mentioned earlier, Ph. D course in ENT is meant for doctors with M.D/M.S in ENT specialty and for medical professionals with PG Diploma in ENT. This course can widen the job opportunities for these professionals in the field of research, they can also get into teaching profession by finding job in medical colleges, and universities in the ENT department. This is because most of the medical colleges and universities prefer Ph. D holders for lecturer and professor positions rather than a candidate with PG degree or diploma in that particular branch of medicine.
Normally, AIIMS issues notification in leading newspapers inviting candidates for the Ph. D courses offered by it and eligible candidates will have to apply within the last date prescribed by the institution for taking up the entrance examination for Ph. D admission in AIIMS.
