Recruitment to the post of Assistant Statistical Officers (ASO) in the Andhra Pradesh Economics and Statistical Subordinate Service is conducted by the Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) through an exam.

Eligibility Criteria

The upper age limit to apply for the post of Assistant Statistical Officer is 36 years. The lower age limit for candidates is 18 years. Relaxation of age is applicable for candidates who belong to the reservation category.

Candidates should have passed Bachelor of Arts (BA) or Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) with a second class. Candidates should have studied 2 among the following subjects from a recognized university: Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science.

Details of Examination

Notification of this exam will be published online as well as through leading newspapers.

Applications are available from the official website of APPSC. The online application forms should be filled and submitted according to the specifications. Incomplete or incorrect application forms will be rejected. Candidates also need to ensure that the eligibility criteria is met before applying.

Candidates are required to pay Rs 100 as the application processing fee. Examination fee of Rs 80 should also be paid. The fee can be paid using the downloadable challan at AP Online centers or any of the branches of State Bank of India. Candidates belonging to reserved category need not pay the fees.

Selection to the post will be based on a written examination. The examination is of objective type. Candidates will be provided with the OMR sheet on which answers have to be marked in a specified format. Each question carries one mark. The written examination carries a total of 300 marks. Paper 1 is general studies which will feature 150 questions to be answered in 150 minutes. The general studies paper will contain questions based on Current Events of National and International Importance, General Mental Ability, General Science, History of India and Indian National Movement and India and World Geography.

Candidates are required to choose one subject from the following subjects for paper 2:

  • Economics
  • Statistics
  • Mathematics
  • Computer Science

Paper 2 also contains 150 questions to be answered in 150 minutes.

The written examination will be conducted in five centers:

  • Hyderabad
  • Visakhapatanam
  • Vijayawada
  • Tirupati
  • Waringa

Selected candidates have to prove their medical fitness. The final merit list will be published in the official website. Candidates selected to the post of Assistant Statistical Officers are required to work within Andhra Pradesh.

Original documents and other specified particulars have to be submitted on the verification date itself.
