Candidates having Army background are eligible for Bachelors Degree in Hospitality Management (BHM) in Army Institute of Hotel Management and Catering Technology (AIHM). Duration of BHM course is 4 years. Children of Army personnel who have passed 10 + 2 can also apply.  Selection is carried out on the basis of a written exam, comprising questions from topics like reasoning, numerical ability and general awareness.

Eligibility Criteria for BHM in AIHM, Bangalore

The candidate must have passed XII class or its equivalent with English as a compulsory subject. HSC course must be completed in any of the academic streams. Those who are below 22 years are only eligible to apply.  Apart from the educational and age requirements mentioned here, candidate must satisfy the following conditions also.

  • Candidate must be son/daughter of an Army serving personnel having minimum 10 years continuous service in Indian Army
  • Candidate must be son/daughter of an ex Army personnel, granted with regular/family pension at the time of their discharge/demise
  • Candidate must be son/daughter of an ex Army personnel, who got discharged or released are serving army for 10 years
  • In case of adopted children, adoption must be done at least 5 years prior to date of admission. Step children are eligible for admission, only if they are born from a wedding where at least one of the parents belongs to the Army.

General health and physical fitness of the candidate are also checked before admission. Eye fitness, abnormality of heart and lungs, hearing capacity, etc are checked for measuring physical fitness.

Admission procedure for BHM in AIHM, Bangalore

Selection of eligible candidates are done on the basis of a written test namely Written Admission Test (WAT). The objective model test is conducted at selected exam centers over the country. There will be 100 questions for the test, which must be answered with in 3 hours. Question paper of the test comprises of three parts. First part includes questions on English language. Reasoning and general awareness forms the syllabus of second section. Questions based on scientific aptitude and numerical ability will be asked in third part. Distribution of questions and marks in each section will be as follows.

  • First part- 20 questions-20 marks
  • Second part-55 questions-60 marks
  • Third part- 20 questions-20 marks

Prospectus with application form can be collected from the official portal of the institute. Fee for collecting the same is Rs. 500/-. It can be paid in the form of DD taken in favor of AIHM, Bangalore. Filled up applications along with attested copies of certificates should reach the institute before last date.
