CA CPT Coaching Institutes
Common Proficiency Test (CA CPT) Chartered Accountants entrance test is conduced as an entry level for Chartered Accountancy course. Here the candidate is tested on four subjects such as Accounting, Mercantile Laws, General Economics and Quantitative Aptitude. It is of 200 marks and is divided into two sessions.
It is a simplified entry to the Chartered Accountancy Course which will replace existing Professional Education which needs 10-month study period followed by an exhaustive theoretical examination. It is an objective type of test held every February, May, August and November. This in a way reduces long waiting for entry to the chartered accountancy education and training.
Admission Procedure for CA CPT:
ICAI conducts Chartered Accountant examinations in three stages. First exam is common proficiency test (CPT), next one is integrated professional competence course (IPCC) and the third and last is C.A. Final exams. A student can register for CPT after 10th standard but he can appear in the examination only after 12th standard. It is an entry level test and has two sessions. The first session is Fundamentals of accounting and Mercantile Law and the second session is General Economics and Quantitative Aptitude. You need to score passing marks of 50% in overall but is to be increased to 60% soon.

Pattern of CA CPT Examination:
It is an objective type multiple choice examination and the candidate has the chance to opt even Hindi as the medium of answering the questions.
The examination is conducted in two modes-Papers Pencil Mode of Examination and Online Registration Mode of Examination.
• Paper Pencil Mode of Examination is conducted in morning session and evening session with each carrying two parts.
• For Online Registration Mode of Examination, the students have to fill an examination form Online and then, this examination is held at various centers across India.
• The entrance test consists of objective type questions.
• The medium of all the questions and instructions is English.
• For every wrong answer given by the candidates, 1/4th of the mark will be deducted out of the total marks secured by the students
Eligibility for CA CPT Examination:
Students who wish to appear for CA CPT Examination have to register with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India.
• The students must have passed 10+2 examination or its equivalent, from any recognized Board.
• Candidates, who have passed B.Com, M.Com, LLB, ICWA, CS or MBA at the first attempt, are also eligible to apply.
• The candidates, who have appeared or appearing in final year of the qualifying examination, are also eligible to apply.
• The students, who have registered for CPT Course with Board of Studies of ICAI on or before October 1, 2009, are also eligible to appear in the entrance test.
