Dr. Sivanthi Aditanar College of Physical Education came into existence in the year 1993-94 and the college is run by the Aditanar Educational Institution, which is a registered society. As the name of the college implies, it offers Physical Education courses with affiliation from the Tamil Nadu Physical Education University located in Chennai.

Courses offered:

The list of physical education courses offered by the college is given below:

• Bachelor of Physical Education (B.P. Ed)

• Master of Physical Education (M.P. Ed)

• Master of Philosophy in Physical Education

Eligibility requirement:

For seeking admission to the B.P. Ed course, candidates must have completed their three-year BPE course with not less than 40% of marks and they must have represented their college at the district/university/state level in any sport.

For seeking admission to the M.P. Ed course, candidates must have completed their B.P. Ed course or even candidates with three-year BPE degree with not less than 50% of aggregate marks in any of these courses are eligible to apply.

For M. Phil admission, candidates must have completed their M.P. Ed from a recognized institution and should also earn the approval of the Tamil Nadu Physical Education University for admission to the M. Phil course.

Admission Procedure:

Admission of students to the B.P. Ed course, will be done based on marks secured by the candidates in the admission weightage, which is conducted totally for 150 marks, divided as follows:

• 25 marks for merit secured in the qualifying examination

• 20 marks for recent participation in games and sports

• 50 marks for game skill test

• 50 marks for field and track test

• Bonus 05 marks for basic degree in physical education like B.P.E.S and B. Sc Physical Education

Admission of students to the M.P. Ed course, will be done based on marks secured by the candidates in the admission weightage, which is conducted totally for 100 marks, divided as follows:

• 25 marks for merit secured in the qualifying examination

• 25 marks for participation in games and sports

• 50 marks for games and sports skill test

Placement cell:

Dr. Sivanthi Aditanar College has an integral placement cell, which is provided with complete infrastructure by the management of the institution for effective functioning. The cell is engaged in various activities like:

• Personality development programmes for students

• Entrepreneurship development and awareness programmes for students

• Arranging for campus interviews to ensure placement of students

• Arranging for case studies, group discussions and mock interviews to prepare the students to face interview

Many past students of the institutions have found job placement in police departments, as coaches in different universities, colleges and schools, etc…
