Eligibility and Exam Pattern (Revised) for CEED

Common Entrance Examination for Design (CEED) is a national level exam conducted for the selection of eligible candidates to master’s degree in design. Candidates qualifing the test can seek admission in reputed institutes like IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Kanpur and IIT Guwahati. Bachelor degree holders in subjects of engineering, interior design and fine arts and PG holders in subjects like Arts Science and computer applications can apply. Exam pattern for CEED got slight changes over previous year patterns. By the new pattern there will be two compulsory papers for the selection test.

Eligibility Criteria for CEED

Candidates having completed 4 year bachelor’s degree in any of the following subjects are eligible to apply.

  • Engineering
  • Architecture
  • Design
  • Interior Design
  • Fine Arts

Those holding professional diploma in design (4 year course) from any of the reputed institutions like National Institute of Design or Center for Environmental Planning and Technology can also apply.

Graduate diploma holders in Arts must have one year post qualification professional experience to apply for CEED. Apart from this, master degree holders in the subjects like Arts Science and computer applications are also considered eligible.

Candidates having these much professional qualifications and those who are expecting to gain these much qualifications at the time of interview (counseling) can apply. No specific age limit is there to attend the exam. Eligible candidates can attend the test any number of times.

Revised Exam Pattern for CEED

Exam pattern for CEED have changed slightly from that of previous year. According to the new pattern, there will be two parts for the selection test, Part A and Part B. Part A is conducted as an online test and comprises of multiple choice questions only. Part B contains questions related to design and hand drawing. Those who qualify part A will be evaluated for Part B. Anyway, all candidates should attend both the parts. Total time allotted for the completion of the test is 3 hours.

Applications can be submitted online through the website of GATE (IIT Bombay). Before submitting online applications, candidates should make their application fee payment. Application fee amounts to Rs. 1500/-. Male candidates are only required to make the fee payment, as female candidates are exempted from the same.
