How can I claim tax rebate on Bank Education Loan taken by my daughter?


Hi friends, my daughter has taken an education loan from Dena Bank for her BCA(H) course. She has completed course and now I am being his father repaying the amount of Education loan which was taken by her. The is combined with my daughter and mine names. But I want to claim tax rebate on this loan. Kindly tell me what I have to do?

Yes, you can claim income tax deduction, if you are paying education with interest for your daughter or son. Income tax deductions are available under the section 80E of the income tax act and is available only on the repayment of education loan.

Hence, if you have been paying the EMI for any education loan, then you can claim income tax deductions under section 80E.
