Re: How to get selected in IIT? preparation? books?
Hii...
I have just entered 11 class.... I have joined a physics coaching center and a chemistry coaching center.... Couldnt find a good maths coaching in my city so i am tackling maths on my own for now....i hv bought the following books for the next two years... 1 MATHS : arihant series 2 PHYSICS: h c verma ... D c gupta 3 chemistry: o p tandon I ALSO have te complete material of FIITJEE....i m also planning to join the FIITJEE all india test series..... Do you think the entire plan is gonna workout or not...? N will i be able to do maths on my own...? n are the books good enough to make me perfect in all of these three subjects.... BTW i m a good enough student who has topped each n every class in my life....but i still feel like i need lots and lots of hard work and Gods grace to really get a place in IIT.... For a start i study about 4-6 hrs a day...hope its a good enough start.... |

Re: How to get selected in IIT? preparation? books?
Two thing are very important for JEE preparation:
1. Its not the fact that how much you read. 2 Its actually what you read and how you read it. Here are a few tips on how to start your preparation forIIT: 1. Try to give equal importance in all subjects. 2. As you are going for self study you will have to work a bit more harder than others. You should have someone to whom you can clear your doubts. 3. Revise what you have already learnt in regular intervals. 4. Try to solve as many problems as you can on paper rather than just reading its solution. 5. Books to refer Physics: NCERT, H.C.Verma Chemistry: NCERT, O P TANDON, PRADEEP OBJECTVE CHEMISTRY. MATHS: NCERT, R.D.SHARMA, ARIHANT Series All THE BEST |

Re: How to get selected in IIT? preparation? books?
The only way to get selected in IIT is to crack their entrance exam-IITJEE. The exam attracts around 5 lakh students of which only 10000 students are selected, which means that the competition is really tough. Also the exam is considered tough by almost 99.99% of the appearing candidates which means that normal preparation won't help you in succeeding.
I don't recommend studying 12 or 14 hours a day. The only thing is that you have to start from the very first day of class 11. You have to develop a strong conceptual knowledge and learning by rote won't play even the tiniest role in your result. Try developing your concepts at first and then focus on the different types of sums. These are the following books which would help you a lot:- PHYSICS H.C.Verma( vols 1 & 2)-if you have less time Halliday/Resnick/Walker-if you have enough time CHEMISTRY K.L.Chugh-for physical and organic chemistry any NCERT book for inorganic chemistry MATHS M.L.Agarwal Best of Luck!!!! |

Re: How to get selected in IIT? preparation? books?
The only method to get selected in IIT is to crack the entrance exam IITJEE (indian institute of technology-joint entrance examination). The exam is held on a yearly basis and the exam is held in the first week of April. The application forms come out by November each year. The competition in the exam is quite strict since nearly 5 lac students sit for the exam of which only 10000 get selected. hence the preparation needs to be of that level.
You can join the following coaching institutions or ask for study materials package:- 1)FIITJEE 2)Resonance 3)Pathfinder r4)Career Point 5)Allen's Tutorials I believe that if you are joining a coaching institute then you won't require any extra preparation. however if you still need then these are the books which will help you:- Books for physics H.C.Verma( both the volumes) Books for chemistry K.L.Chugh- for class XI and class XII R.C.Mukherjee Books for maths M.L.Agarwal Best of luck!!! |
