Hello,

M.tech is a post-graduation (engineering) done to the b.tech. Each trade in b.tech level (like civil, mechanical) subdivides and specializes into even more courses. (eg: transportation engg, structural engg, geotechnical engg. in civil).

According to Gate 2011
A rank of around 300- 700 provides you with an admission in the iits.
It varies according to your branch, selected iit, specialization branch etc.

for getting a rank of 300-700 you need to score 40 to 50 out of 100 in the Gate examination.

Good Question.

The score card that they take for admission is the one that you provide them with.So obviously u give them the score card in which you have better scores.

so, generally the better scores of the two are accepted.

To take admission you should score 600+ as a general candidate to secure your place. But you should score more then 98 percentile to secure your position. Percentile means your percentage with the base of topper's score.

It's quite tough to assume the actual rank.
It depends on several factors like-
1. The stream you belong from
2. The cut-off marks
3. The highest score
4. Number of students appearing in that stream etc.
So, it's not possible to judge.

m.tech is masters in technology in which you have to specialise in a particular subject you want to do. for getting admission into iit's in a branch of your choice and a subject you choose you have to score a rank of within 200 in the gate examination.

To get M.TEch admission :

1.You should score 600+ marks or 96%. for M.Tech Cut of List.
2.You should score 550 or above score along with 95% GATE for Interview Selection.
