Is AIR a crucial factor for selecting a branch in IITs? How can we perform for the interview?

once chosen for iit interview, will AIR be a crucial factor for the selection to a course or is it solely based on how we perform for the interview??

Yes All India Rank is the most crucial factor for selecting branch in any field of engineering in IIT's. Most of the toppers prefer for the best branches available in the IIT's and as there are limited seats for every programme all the seats for good branches are filled up by the higher rankers.

Although there is no interview conducted for the admission in any of the IIT's in any branch. So you must not worry about interview. The all you need to worry about is how you get a good rank and later a good branch in IIT's for engineering.
