Combined Defense Service Examination is conducted for all the major defense forces of India and being an engineering graduate, you will be considered eligible for Indian Army, Indian Air Force as well as for Indian Navy. Now, as far as age limit is concerned, the minimum eligible age for all three defense force of India, as mentioned above, is 19 years. However, the maximum age limit for each of them varies and is as follows:

Indian Army: 24 years
Indian Air Force: 23 years
Indian Navy: 22 years


Candidates within the aforementioned age limit and possessing bachelors degree in engineering are considered eligible to write Combined Defense Service Examination for any of the three defense forces of India. However, a graduates in any discipline may write the examination for Indian Army and graduates in any discipline with Physics and Mathematics in the +2 level are considered eligible to write the examination for Indian Air Force.

Details About CDS :

CDS stands for Combined Defence Service which is one of the Defence Service exam which is conducted for candidates to join in defence forces of India.This exam is conducted every year by UPSC(Union Public Service Commission).You can write this exam if you satisfy the criteria's framed for it and thsi exam is conducted twice as CDS I and CDS II.

Requirements Needed:

~ Candidate should be a citizen of India

~ The candidate must be a unmarried male candidate for IMA, Indian Navy and Air Force.For OTA unmarried/male candidate is also eligible.

~ Education qualification for IMA and Air Force is that the candidate must have completed a degree from a recognized university with a fair percentage.

~ In case of joining in Indian Navy you need to have completed a Engineering Degree.

~ For Air Force you need to have completed a degree with physics and mathematics as subjects with a fair percentage from a recognized university,

Age Limit:

~ The age limit for IMA is that the candidate must have 19-24 years.

~ For Indian Navy it is 19-22 years and for Indian Air Force it is 19-23 years

Yes, you are eligible to apply for CDS after Graduation in Engineering.

COMBINED DEFENCE SERVICE(CDS) entrance exam conducted by UPSC twice every year as CDS-I and CDS-II to join Indian Military Academy, Naval Academy, Air Force Academy and Officer's Training Academy of CDS.

In Thematic Apperception Test you will be asked to write a story based on a picture given to you. In Word Association Test you will be asked to make sentences. And lastly the group test will comprise of almost 10 candidates approximately and this group will be asked to take part in group discussion, group planning and other outdoor tasks.
