Re: Which is the better course between Petrochemical and Petroleum engineering?
Hi Friend................
Petroleum Engineering Petroleum engineering will focus on upstream exploration and production - where, when, and how to drill and how to bring the oil and gas back to shore. Petrochemical Engineering Petrochemical engineering will focus on downstream manufacturing - refineries, chemical plants, polymers, coatings, etc. If you like being out at the well site, like dealing with geology and underground formations, and you have some measure of personal toughness then go petroleum. If you like being at the plant site, working on a balanced team to make the plant more profitable, and you have a strong attention to detail then go petrochemical. When you complete all the required courses in such a field at a university you will get a degree, probably Bachelor of Science in Engineering. With that degree you can apply to be licensed as an engineer in your home state/country, and you can apply to engineering jobs. You might also get a better understanding of how the world works - such as physics, mathematics, and chemistry. Both Petroleum and Petrochemical engineering rely on a supply of oil & gas in the ground. If that runs out in your country/state then you might have a hard time finding a job. |
