listen Sonali ...
Its not so matter which one is more better b/w arts & commerce. Its up to you Dear. Which stream falls under your Interest. If you have more time & Sharp mind for solving maths you can choose commerce but remember that if u not good in maths . Stay away from it. Select the subjects you want to read. That will help you to get Good result. |

Re: Which is a better stream to follow for economics: Commerce or Arts?
I do not agree with you that "Arts is for people who hate maths" thats not right, even "Amartya Sen" has done BA (Economics) from Delhi School of Economics and then further master and P.hd from Foreign.
And weather you study BA, B.sc or B.Com with Economics Hounours, you have to study MAthematics and Statistics as because Economics is not possible without Maths, it is the language of Economics. And every year more or less 60% IAS officers are from Arts background, and no one can crack Entrance like that of IAS without command in Mathematics. Never listen to such propagandas, Just follow your decision, if you are interested in persuing B.Com/ BA (Economics Honours) then switch to it, if you trust on yourself. Regards ~faiyaz~ |

Re: Which is a better stream to follow for economics: Commerce or Arts?
There is nothing like arts people hating maths or math haters doing arts , although commerce may give you slight advantage over arts if you want to study economics. Please
don't take advice from people- not many people are experts in career fields. In the end, if you want to go abroad later, they don't care what subjects you hadn't taken earlier, if you are good enough in what you did take. Best of luck. Take what you like studying , not what people like you to study. |

hey sonali,
i agree to what faiyaz said.Every student has to face this problem.and if u don't like science don't go for it. I too belong to commerce background....and i love what i study and thus this keeps me interested....don't listen to what people say just do what you are interested in...if u like to make your carrier in economics go for commerce...study it for 2 years...and then go for economics hons. from any university of your choice... wishing you all the best... |

Re: Which is a better stream to follow for economics: Commerce or Arts?
Good question but i'm not agree with you arts and commerce both have a large scope and one thing is that you have to study maths in every stream firrt class test like I.A.S I.P.S. Are mostly passed by arts student but i think in my opinion you first choose your goal and then decidea according to ur interest which one is best for u thats depends only on you

Each course has its own benefits and career options. It depends on how far it suits your personality and aptitude. It depends on how you are interested and potential invested by you to acquire knowledge about the subject. But if you are serious enough to pursue studies abroad after +2, I would advice you to take Computer science as one of the subject. Regards |

Re: Which is a better stream to follow for economics: Commerce or Arts?
Economics is a wonderful choice, especially since the global market is really connected and economy is very dynamic in nature. But I have to tell you that all economics are quite strong in mathematics or stats as fundamental principles of these streams remain the same. All economic indicators are built on mathematical or statistical fundamentals, hence would advise you to keep such apprehensions away and focus on taking economics and sharpening your bent on maths..

Each and every course has its own importance , If you started your graduation in economics then go for your further study , dont take it as a burden . It is true that arts course has no mathematics and consists of only lengthy paper but if have little interest in maths then you can go for commerce. Dont afraid of the level of maths in commerce , i have been through their books and they are not more than the few formulaes.

dear friend,
i think commerce will be better stream with economics. because commerce is basically a maths based subjects.you are well acquainted with maths . also in economics is based in maths.there are lot of mathematical formulas and derivations in economics. also commerce is related with business and economics ia also related with business. so combination of economics and commerce will be better. all the best. |

don't lose our heart so soon .be confident.in today's world there is no scarcity of jobs.check where your interest level is and then decide. if u have the confidence and determination then u can do wonders in any field. love maths it is an amazing subject .do not worry about weakness or strong point if u love maths opt for commerce but if u still feel u don't like maths then go for arts.just keep in mind whatever u choose hard works pays at the end. http://entrance-exam.net/forum/images/icons/icon7.gifhttp://entrance-exam.net/forum/images/icons/icon11.gif

commerce is the better option than arts . you can better follow economics with commerce stream. after 12th you can suggest B.COM .and after that you can do MBA,.M.COM, MCA. which have better scope than BA or MA. hence in my opinion commerce is the better option.

Re: Which is a better stream to follow for economics: Commerce or Arts?
First of all i would advise you that don't ever consider others statement as ultimately you will be going to face whatever you choose as your career whether forcefully or as per your choice.
If you are more inclined towards economics than it will not going to matter that you choose Arts or Commerce as your stream at 10+2. Furthure if considering economics than Mathematics will act as a supportive subject to mathematics. economics will be divided in Micro Economics ( Theorytical ) and Macro Economics (Statistical) . Macro economics will intensely involved with mathematics and calculation. |

Re: Which is a better stream to follow for economics: Commerce or Arts?
dear friend,
After 10th you have go for 12th and there you can choose any of the following three : 1. Science 2. Commerce 3. Arts Among them the stream science has the bright future compared to others. But if you want to become CA then please go for commerce. At first i tell you one thing that please select the jobs or occupation which you want to become. Then choose stream accordingly. Fixed your aim and go for it. Besides this after passing 10th you can get admitted directly to polytechnic college for diploma degree and then for LAT eaxm you can enter directly to B.Tech. There are so many option, I have mentioned only one.So Do your duty first i.e. choose what do you want and then go for it. all the best. |
