Poornaprajna College was established in the year 1960 and at the beginning, the college was offering education in the faculties of arts and commerce alone. Later in the year 1963, the faculty of science was introduced at the intermediate level and in the year 1965 degree level courses in science stream was started. During the year 1975, the college also introduced management faculty in its educational stream and the college is affiliated to Mangalore University.

Poornaprajna College follows credit based semester system for the courses offered by it and the list of courses is given below:

• Post Graduate Diploma in Computer Applications

• Bachelor of Business Management

• Bachelor of Commerce

• Bachelor of Science with the following combinations:

o Botany, Zoology, Chemistry

o Physics, mathematics, computer science

o Physics, statistics, mathematics

o Physics, chemistry, mathematics

• Bachelor of Arts with the following combinations:

o History, sociology, Kannada

o History, Economics, Sociology

o History, Economics, English

Eligibility for admission:

For PGDCA course admission, students must be graduates in any stream of education, for BBM course, they must have completed their PUC or equivalent examination in science or commerce stream. For admission to the degree course in commerce, they must have studied P.U.C or equivalent in commerce stream and for arts, they must have completed their P.U.C or equivalent examination in arts, science or commerce stream. As far as admission to the Bachelor of Science in concerned, they must have completed P.U.C or equivalent examination in science stream with biology as a subject for the first combination mentioned above under science degree course.

Admission Procedure:

Admission is done by Poornaprajna College purely on the basis of merit secured by the students in the qualifying examination according to the guidelines issued by the Mangalore University and Karnataka State Government.
