Re: Can 3rd year B.Tech. student apply for CAT examination?
Since you are in the third year you are not eligible. You need to wait for an year. You can appear when you are in the 4th year. This gives you sufficient time to prepare. You must especially start preparing for the current affairs section.

Re: Can 3rd year B.Tech. student apply for CAT examination?
Hi
CAT - Common Admission Test. This is one of the toughest and most challenging entrance exams in our country. This test is basically organized by the IIM's i.e the Indian Institutes of Managements. They are also regarded as the best B-Schools in India. If you wish to sit for the CAT exam, then first of all you have to fulfill the following Eligibility Conditions :- 1. You should be a minimum graduate in any stream from a recognized college or University in India. 2. Graduation Final Year appearing students may also sit for this exam, but not the pre final year students. 3. As such there are no age or attempt limits for this exam. So you may apply as many times as you want. 4. If you have good results throughout and also have experience, then you would gain an advantage in the overall percentile of the CAT exam. So if you fulfill these, then surely you can be able to attempt this exam. So certainly if you are in the third year of your B.Tech, you CANNOT apply for this exam. You must be in the 4th year of your B.Tech to be eligible to apply for the CAT exam. This exam usually takes place in the month of November. So for 2011, its already over. You can look to appear for it in CAT 2012. If you wish to visit the official CAT Website, please Click Here This exam usually consist of two parts : QUANTITATIVE APTITUDE + ENGLISH. You would get related information in the website. Also you must join some coaching for better results. Hope this helps All the best. Regards #RJ# |

Re: Can 3rd year B.Tech. student apply for CAT examination?
Since you are in the third year therefore you have to wait till you get in the fourth year because for CAT only graduates and final year students can apply.
CAT stands for Common Admission Test. This exam is conducted by the Indian Institutes of Management. Bu giving this exam you can get to pursue MBA not only in the IIM's but also in the other top B-Schools which accepts CAT Scores. For this exam as mentioned earlier you need to get a bachelor's degree in any discipline of your choice from a recognized university. Along with that 50% of marks at grad level is essential. In case you are a SC/ST/DA/PWD candidate then you need to get 45% of marks in aggregate. If you apply in the final year and get selected then you need to submit a certificate stating that you have completed all the requirements for obtaining the bachelor’s degree/equivalent qualification on the date of the issue of the certificate. CAT is a computer based test and it is conducted in various cities during a window of 3-4 weeks. How much weightage will be given to CAT varies from one institute to the other. Because along with CAT there are other selection methods which are taken into consideration like academic performance, work experience, group discussion, written assessment and interview performance etc. to select candidates.
