Can B.tech. in computer science engineer appear in the IPS
Sir, I am final year student of B.tech.(Computer Science Engg). I want to know, can B.tech. in computer science engg be appear in the IPS examination. If yes then plz tell me the syllabus of this and way of preparation of examination.what are the subjects that prove fruitful to me to achieve success in these examination?

Singlefoldly one cant apply with computer science at ips.what will be a need of cs student in ips .it is a management post and cs is a technical one, only in terms of graduate you can apply.

yes,there is provision to give upsc examination by cs.
upsc allows engg. by their own subjects. Choice of career is yours. Sometimes one should go by the market .you see where your interest goes, technicity or managerial. |

yes, a b.tech student can give exam of IPS. as your subject computer science is not in the list of subjects prescribed by UPSC.so you can't give exam with your b.tech. subjects. after getting good all India rank you can become an IPS officer. you can take any two subjects among about 22 subjects which is prescribed by UPSC.after training you can become superintended of police(S.P.) of any district. all the best. |

As you are final year student of B.tech(Computer Science Engg). So you are eligible for the IPS examination. As you are from the engineerig field;So for you MATH & PHYSICS is the best paper for preparation. Because these are the subject which is mostly numerical type, So you score full marks in any question ; if you answer correct. |

Yes, you can appear for IAS eor IPS exam only criteria required is graduate from a recognised university and should have comleted 21 years of age. You can also appear with your branch subjects.

yea you may appear in IPS. the minimum qualification to appear on IPS is you have to be graduate from any stream. it's a very tough examination. but a good study can make it very easy. study carefully and appear in the examination. best of luck.

you have not mention, are you male or female!selected pattern for IPS.............. 1.Age limit 21 years must be completed on 1st August of the year, which a candidate is appearing. Maximum 30 for general category, 33 for OBCs and 35 for SCs/STs . Ex-servicemen will get 5 more years exemption from the 2.Height Male 165 cm Pahari Male (general also) & ST (not the SC/ OBC) 160 cm Female 150 cm Pahari Female (general also) & ST (not SC/ OBC)- 145 cm 3.Chest Male Minimum 84 cm. Expansion 5 cm. Female Min 79 cm expansion 5 cm. 4.Eye sight 6/6 or 6/9 distant vision for good eye. 6/12 or 6/9 for worst eye. Near vision J 1 for good eye. J2 for worst eye. you are eligible to appear in the exam of the IPS,as minimum eligibility to become an IAS officer, you must have graduation degree in any discipline. But friend, in the exam of IPS , there is no subject in the syllabus of IPS related to computer science,so you have to choose subject from ECE, EE or mechanical. you can also choose subject like physics, math, chemistry. your age should be less than equal to 30 year. best of luck. |

Yes, being a computer science engineering degree holder you are eligible to apply for UPSC IPS exam. The minimum educational qualification required for appearing IPS exam is a bachelors degree in any discipline from a recognised university. In additional to educational requirement you must also satisfy other requirements like: Age limit: 21 years must be completed on 1st August of the year, in which a candidate is appearing. Maximum 30 for general category, 33 for OBCs and 35 for SCs/STs. Number of Attempts: Four attempts for open, seven for OBCs and no limit for SCs/STs. Minimum Physical Standard: Height Male 165 cm Pahari Male (general also) & ST (not the SC/ OBC) 160 cm. Chest Male Minimum 84 cm. Expansion 5 cm. Since you have not mentioned you subjects for prelims & mains exam i can not provide you the syllabus. But you can download the entire syllabus from the official website of UPSC: www.upsc.gov |

You can apply for civil service exam, but there are no subjects related to your stream in that exam. You have to prepare other subjects like maths, history, geography, etc. also you must fit the physical and medical criteria. |

any student after completion of his graduation he may appear in ITS examination irrespective of their branch. so as you are doing B.Tech in Information Technology so after B.Tech you will be also eligible for the examination. best of luck. |
