Re: Can a candidate be eligible for IAS Exam after completion of Degree in Arts stream?
Yes. A candidate from Arts stream is eligible to be placed in IAS after completion of graduation.
For this, the candidate has to crack civil services examination being conducted by UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) every year. The complete selection procedure is by -Civil Services Aptitude Test -Civil Services Main Examination -Interview One should possess an age between 21-30 years to be eligible for this exam. Relaxation is there in upper age limit upto 3 years for the candidates of OBC category and upto 5 years for the candidates of SC/ST category. The following optional subjects will be better choice for you for Main Examination. -Management -Law -Political Science -Public Administration etc. Have good preparation for this exam and crack it. Wish you all the best. |

Re: Can a candidate be eligible for IAS Exam after completion of Degree in Arts stream?
Ofcourse you are eligible to give the exam.
It does not really matters which stream you belong to as they just look for graduates in any discipline from a recognized university. Your age should be between 21-30 years. At the most you can attempt for four times. Selection procedure includes preliminary exams, main examination followed by interview. Refer to the thumbnails attached to know more about the IAS exam pattern and the list of optional subjects available. |

Re: Can a candidate be eligible for IAS Exam after completion of Degree in Arts stream?
There is no such specific exam as IAS exam, to become an IAS officer one has to apply, appear and crack Civil Service Exam conducted by UPSC once every year.
You are eligible to apply for this being a student from Arts stream after completion of Graduation provided you fulfill other eligibility criteria for Civil Service Exam. The candidate must be an Indian National having either appear for the final Graduation Degree exam or pass in any stream from a recognised University within the age of 21 to 30 years with upper age relaxation for reserved candidate. The candidate has to under go a three tire selection process before finally selected as an IAS officer. The candidate has to appear and crack the Preliminary exam which is called Civil Service Aptitude Test(CSAT). The Selected candidate from CSAT is called for Civil Service Main Exam and the selected candidate out of it has been called for the final phase of selection i.e. Personal Interview. At least one year rigorous preparation is must to crack Civil Service exam before sitting for the exam.So have a through preparation as per the prescribed syllabus for Civil Service Exam before sitting for the Exam. yes,
arts candidates can surely apply for IAS Exam which is conducted by the UPSC every year.the minimum eligibility required is graduation from a recognized university. since you have ARTS branch hence you must have read subjects like; ~the INDIAN History ~world's history ~geography which are closely related to that of arts subject. hence its good to prepare for that exam but its not so easy..one needs to crack the written exam and hence the selection procedure is given below. Selection process
total marks----2300 age limit ---the candidate should be more than 21 years at the time of giving the exam ---for OBC there is relaxation of 3 years and 5 for SC/ST categories. however i have provided the attachments which will help you................. see the pattern closely............ also i have attached the syllabus, papers etc............ hope this helped.................... with regards roknit |

Re: Can a candidate be eligible for IAS Exam after completion of Degree in Arts stream?
Stream is not relevant for Civil Service exams. Science, Commerce,Arts, Humanities, Engineering, Medical, Management etc etc all stream graduates can apply. The graduation degree should be from a UGC recognised university and DEC recognised (for distance learning courses only).
Stream is not problem as exam will be on multiple subjects related to all streams, both in prelims and mains |
